Download file name: Gaia 3.4 for Mono (beta)

GaiaŽ is a platform designed for advanced geospatial needs. Based on the CarbonTools PRO open-geospatial development toolkit (www.CarbonTools.com), this viewer can access an array of geospatial sources such as the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) Web Mapping Service (WMS), Web Map Tile Service (WMTS), Web Coverage Service (WCS), and Web Feature Service (WFS), commercial services such as Microsoft Bing Maps, and Yahoo! Maps, not for profit services from OpenStreetMap (OSM), as well as file formats such as ESRI Shapefiles, Google Earth KML/KMZ, DXF, MIF and Geography Markup Language (GML).

This package is compiled to comply with the Mono Project multi-platform framework, allowing Gaia to be used on any Linux or Mac OS.

To use this package:
1. Make sure the latest Mono 2.4 is installed.
2. Unzip the archive
3. Run it: mono Gaia.exe

Known issues:
  • Cannot read Windows saved GSF (Mono mismatch in system assemblies. Can load Mono originated GSF from any platform though)

  • Tiles use an older projection system that has some accuracy issues (Mono bug in Bitmaps)

  • Some UI issues with lists, tables and pull-downs.

  • The issues listed are expected to be fixed in coming versions of Mono.
